What is Evolved Personal Training and where are you located?
Evolved Personal Training is a private, 1-on-1 personal training studio in Columbia, Missouri, located at 200 East Southampton Drive (Lower Level). We specialize in high-quality, individualized training for adults, especially women 45 and older, who want real results in a private, non-intimidating environment. Every session is with an expert trainer, built around your specific goals, health history, and schedule.
I'm in my 50s and haven't worked out in years. Is Evolved right for me?
How is Evolved different from a big-box gym or group fitness studio?
At a big gym, you’re on your own. At a group class, you’re following the instructor’s plan, not yours. At Evolved, every session is 1-on-1 with a coach who knows your body, your history, and your goals. Programs are built for you, adjusted as you progress, and delivered in a private studio. On top of that, we offer recovery and wellness amenities including infrared sauna, red light therapy, Normatec compression boots, and a Fit3D body scanner that most training facilities simply don’t have.
What results can I expect from training at Evolved?
Most clients experience improved strength, better mobility, more energy, and reduced joint pain within the first 60 to 90 days. Long-term clients see measurable improvements in bone density, posture, body composition, and overall confidence. Results depend on your starting point and consistency, but our clients stay an average of 2+ years because it works.
What happens during my first visit to Evolved?
Your first visit is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation focused on you: your goals, your history, what you’ve tried before, and what hasn’t worked. We’ll talk through what the right program looks like and why. You’ll also get a full tour of the studio and see all the amenities we offer firsthand. There’s no obligation to sign up on the spot. It’s about finding the best plan for you, not selling you something.
How do I get started at Evolved Personal Training in Columbia, MO?

How much does personal training at Evolved cost?
We meet with everyone individually to figure out which program makes the most sense based on your goals, history, schedule, and budget. Small group training starts around $30/week. 1-on-1 personal training starts around $50/week. The best way to find out what’s right for you is to set up a free discovery call or come in for a meeting. No pressure, no guesswork, just a real conversation about what will get you results.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for personal training at Evolved?
Yes, in many cases. Personal training can qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement when your doctor provides a Letter of Medical Necessity linking exercise to a diagnosed condition such as osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, or cardiovascular disease. Ask us and we can walk you through the process. Many of our clients use this benefit successfully.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No long-term contracts. We want you here because you’re getting results, not because you’re locked in. Most of our clients have been with us for 2+ years because it works, not because they had to stay.
What amenities does Evolved Personal Training include?
Evolved is a fully equipped private training studio with recovery and wellness amenities you won’t find at a typical gym.
Members have access to:
Infrared sauna with red light therapy — recover faster, support fat loss, reduce inflammation, and improve skin health. The red light therapy panel adds photobiomodulation benefits including increased collagen production and reduced oxidative stress.
Normatec compression boots — science-backed dynamic air compression that mimics natural muscle pumps to reduce soreness, boost circulation, and speed up recovery between sessions.
Fit3D body scanner — a 35-second full-body scan that measures over 400 points and delivers a detailed report to your phone within minutes. One of the most motivating tools for tracking real progress beyond the scale.
Everything is included as part of training at Evolved. The workout is only part of the experience.
HEALTH & SPECIAL POPULATIONS
I have osteoporosis or low bone density. Can I train safely at Evolved?
Absolutely, and you should. Resistance training is one of the most evidence-backed interventions for maintaining and improving bone density. Our trainers are experienced working with clients managing osteoporosis, and every program is designed with your specific bone health in mind. We work closely with your healthcare provider if needed.
I'm taking a GLP-1 medication like Ozempic or Wegovy. Should I be training?
Yes, and the sooner the better. GLP-1 medications can cause significant muscle and bone loss alongside fat loss. Resistance training is the most effective way to preserve lean muscle while on these medications. We work with several clients currently on GLP-1 therapy and can coordinate with your prescribing physician to make sure your program supports your treatment.
I have joint pain or a past injury. Is personal training safe for me?
Yes. One of the most common reasons people come to Evolved is that they’re afraid of getting hurt, or they’ve already been hurt. Our trainers review your history, understand your limitations, and build programs that strengthen the muscles around your joints without aggravating existing issues. We work alongside physical therapists and doctors regularly.
My doctor told me I need to exercise but I don't know where to start. Can Evolved help?
That’s one of the most common reasons people call us. We take your health history seriously, work within any limitations your doctor has outlined, and build from there. If it helps, we can communicate directly with your provider. Come in for a free meeting and we’ll figure out the right starting point together.
WOMEN OVER 50, MENOPAUSE & HORMONES
Is Evolved Personal Training good for women going through menopause?
It’s one of the best things you can do during menopause. Estrogen decline accelerates muscle and bone loss, increases fat storage, and makes recovery slower. The right resistance training program addresses all three. Our trainers work with women in perimenopause and post-menopause regularly and understand how to program around hormonal shifts, not against them. If you’re also working with a doctor or hormone specialist, we’re happy to coordinate.
I'm a woman over 50 and I'm worried about getting bulky from lifting weights. Should I be?
No. After 50, the real risk is the opposite: losing muscle, not gaining too much of it. Women over 50 don’t have the hormonal environment to bulk up from resistance training. What you will get is a leaner, stronger, more defined body and better metabolic function. Most of our clients who were afraid of this end up wishing they had started lifting sooner.
How does personal training help with bone density for women over 50?
Resistance training is one of the few things that actually stimulates bone growth. When muscles pull on bones during weighted exercise, it triggers the body to reinforce that bone tissue. For women post-menopause, this is critical. We design programs with the right loading patterns for bone health without putting you at risk. A lot of our clients come in with a diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis and improve their scan results over time.
Can exercise help with menopause symptoms like hot flashes, sleep problems, and mood changes?
Yes, and the research is clear on it. Regular resistance training and aerobic conditioning have been shown to reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes, improve sleep quality, and stabilize mood by supporting neurotransmitter function. It’s not a replacement for hormone therapy if that’s what you need, but for most women it makes a meaningful difference on its own.
I'm busy. How much time does training at Evolved actually take?
Sessions are 30 minutes. One hour a week, two 30-minute sessions, is enough to make a significant impact on your strength, body composition, bone density, and energy levels when the program is built right and a coach is guiding every minute of it. Think about that. One hour. There is not another thing you can do with 60 minutes that delivers that combination of health, wellness, and physical benefits all at once. Not a walk, not a class, not a spa day. One focused hour of the right training changes things.
Do I have to train multiple days a week to see results?
No. Some of our most successful female clients train once or twice a week, 30 minutes a session. Consistency over time matters far more than volume. A well-designed program with a coach who knows your body will outperform three days a week of guessing on your own every time. We’ll find a schedule that works for your life and make every minute count.
WEIGHT LOSS & BODY COMPOSITION
Can personal training at Evolved help me lose weight?
Yes, but the more accurate goal is improving your body composition, which usually matters more than the number on the scale. Building muscle increases your resting metabolism, which means you burn more calories throughout the day, not just during a workout. Most clients who come in focused on weight loss end up caring more about how they feel and how their clothes fit after a few months. The scale is one data point. We track a lot more than that.
I've tried everything and nothing has worked long-term. What makes Evolved different?
Most programs fail because they’re generic, they’re unsupervised, or there’s no one holding you accountable. At Evolved, you have a coach who knows your program, tracks your progress, and adjusts when things aren’t working. That relationship is what makes the difference. Our average client stays over two years. That’s not because they’re locked into a contract. It’s because it’s working.
Do I need to change my diet to see results at Evolved?
Training alone can get you a long way, especially if you’re just getting started. We don’t require a specific diet, but if nutrition is something you want to address, our 360 Wellness Coaching program covers it. A lot of clients find that once they’re training consistently, their habits around food naturally start to improve. We meet you where you are and build from there.
How does the Fit3D body scanner help with weight loss and body composition?
The scale doesn’t tell the full story. You can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time and the number barely moves, but your body is changing. The Fit3D scanner measures over 400 points on your body in 35 seconds and tracks real changes in shape, lean mass, and body fat over time. Seeing actual progress in the data is one of the most motivating things we offer. It keeps people going when the scale isn’t cooperating.
HEALTH, LONGEVITY & AGING WELL
What is health span and why does it matter more than lifespan?
Lifespan is how long you live. Healthspan is how long you live well: moving independently, staying strong, keeping your mind sharp, and doing the things you want to do without pain or limitation. Most people are living longer but spending the last 10 to 20 years in decline. The goal at Evolved is to compress that decline window and extend the years where you’re actually functioning at a high level. Strength training is the single best tool we have for that.
I'm in my 60s. Is it too late to start strength training?
No. The research on this is clear: people in their 60s, 70s, and even 80s who start resistance training gain meaningful muscle, improve balance, reduce fall risk, and report better quality of life. The body responds to training at any age. Starting later just means we meet you where you are and build from there. Some of our most committed long-term clients started in their 60s.
How does strength training help with longevity?
Muscle mass is one of the strongest predictors of long-term health outcomes. It improves insulin sensitivity, supports cardiovascular health, protects joints, reduces fall risk, and correlates with lower all-cause mortality. Losing muscle as you age, which happens naturally after 40, accelerates nearly every marker of decline. Resistance training is the most effective intervention we have for slowing that process. It’s not just about looking better. It’s about staying functional for decades longer.
Can exercise at Evolved help me stay independent as I age?
That’s exactly what we’re training for. The ability to get up off the floor, carry groceries, climb stairs, and move without assistance comes down to strength, balance, and mobility. We program specifically for those things. Clients in their 60s and 70s tell us regularly that training here changed how they move through daily life. That outcome matters more to us than any short-term aesthetic goal.
What is the best type of exercise for healthy aging?
Resistance training is at the top of the list, backed by more research than any other single modality for healthy aging. It preserves muscle and bone, supports metabolic health, improves balance and coordination, and has strong associations with cognitive function. Cardiovascular conditioning matters too, and we work that in where appropriate. But if you’re an adult over 45 and you’re only doing one thing, it should be lifting weights with proper guidance.
How does the infrared sauna at Evolved support longevity?
Regular sauna use has a strong body of research behind it. Studies following tens of thousands of people over decades show consistent associations between sauna frequency and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, and all-cause mortality. The mechanisms include improved circulation, heat shock protein activation, reduced inflammation, and cardiovascular conditioning effects similar to moderate aerobic exercise. Combined with training, it’s one of the most evidence-backed recovery and longevity tools available. It’s included as part of the Evolved experience.
I want to be active and strong for the rest of my life. Where do I start?
MEN OVER 40 — GETTING STRONGER, LEANER & HEALTHIER
I'm a man in my 40s or 50s and I've let my health slip. Is Evolved a good fit for me?
Yes. A lot of our male clients come to us at exactly that point: busy career, family, and somewhere along the way fitness fell off the list. Now the weight is up, the energy is down, and something has to change. We’ve seen it a hundred times and we know how to get you moving in the right direction without wrecking you in the process. No ego, no judgment, just a real plan built around where you are right now.
What's the best way for men over 40 to lose belly fat and keep it off?
Resistance training combined with a modest caloric deficit is the most effective and sustainable approach, and it’s what we build programs around. Cardio alone burns calories in the moment but doesn’t change your metabolism long-term. Building muscle does. Men over 40 also deal with declining testosterone, which makes fat storage easier and muscle building harder. A smart strength program directly addresses that. We can also point you toward nutrition support if that’s a missing piece.
I used to be athletic but haven't trained seriously in years. How do I get back to it without getting injured?
This is one of the most common situations we see with men. The competitive instinct is still there but the body needs a different approach than it did at 25. The mistake most guys make coming back is going too hard too fast. We do a thorough intake on your history, find out where the gaps are, and build a program that gets you progressing quickly without the setbacks. You’ll feel the difference within a few weeks, without the two weeks on the couch recovering from overdoing it.
Can personal training at Evolved help men improve energy, sleep, and overall health, not just look better?
I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or pre-diabetes. Can I train at Evolved?
Yes, and exercise is one of the most powerful interventions for all three. We take a full health history before you start and build your program with those conditions in mind. We’re also experienced working alongside physicians, so if your doctor has specific guidelines we work within them. A lot of our male clients come in with one or more of those diagnoses and see meaningful improvements in their numbers over time.
How does testosterone decline affect men over 40 and can training help?
Testosterone starts declining around age 30 at roughly 1% per year. By 45 or 50, the effects are noticeable: more body fat, less muscle, lower energy, reduced motivation, and slower recovery. Resistance training is one of the most effective natural ways to support testosterone production and slow that decline. It won’t replace hormone therapy if that’s what you need, but it creates the physiological conditions your body needs to produce and use testosterone more efficiently. It’s one of the reasons consistent training matters more, not less, as you get older.
I'm a busy guy. How much time do I actually need to commit to see results?
Sessions are 30 minutes. One hour a week, two sessions, is enough to drive real changes in strength, body composition, energy, and metabolic health when the program is dialed in and you have a coach running every session. One hour. Name something else you can do with 60 minutes that gives you that kind of return on health, performance, and how you look and feel. There isn’t one. That’s the point.
Is 30 minutes really enough time to get a good workout?
When every minute is programmed and there’s no wasted time, yes. Most people spend more time than that warming up and scrolling their phone at a regular gym. At Evolved your session starts the second you walk in. No downtime, no guessing what to do next, no waiting for equipment. Thirty minutes of focused, coached, progressive training beats an hour of going through the motions every time.
What does a typical personal training program for a man over 40 look like at Evolved?
Every program is built from scratch based on your intake: your goals, health history, movement history, schedule, and what you actually enjoy doing. Most programs for men in this stage of life emphasize building and maintaining lean muscle, improving mobility and joint health, managing body composition, and building sustainable habits. Sessions are 30 to 45 minutes, focused, and efficient. No filler, no wasted time. You come in, you work, you leave feeling like you did something.
